This is the shop where real magicians come for their magic. Getting there for the first time is tricky to start with. The underground staff are used to directing people. Once there you get a sense of the mysterious straight away.
Established for many years, Davenport has run his shop for the professionals and is well known within the Magic Circle. However on a recent visit an American tourist was choosing a trick to learn from scratch - just wanting to have something to occupy himself on his travels around the world. The magician who served him demonstrated some ropes. It looked just that bit too mysterious so he eventually chose some disappearing golf balls although he was advised it may take longer to learn.
If you have a keen Potter fan in tow you can be sure to impress because this is no ordinary trick shop. You are unlikely to find any stink bombs in here. Davenport is just about to launch his amazing catalogue which could in itself be a present for a budding Hermoine.
The place is full of boxes, cards, masks and a wealth of inscrutable images. You can get some limited edition posters like the ones above if you don't feel like trying your hand at some cunning cards or crafty acts. The personal service and encouragement makes a visit a real pleasure.
