Mon Plaisir

The title of ‘Cordon-bleu’ comes from the 16th century when French Knights from the most exclusive order were called Cordon Bleu after the broad blue ribbons they wore. Louis XIV applied it to ‘fine chefs’ for the first time in the 17th century. The acclaim of French food being the ‘very best’ still survives amidst the widest international variety available in London.

Mon Plaisir opened at the End of World War 2 to be patronised by Charles de Gualle when it was owned by the Viala brothers. Alain Lhermitte and his family took it over in 1975 and take pride in preserving the restaurant’s tradition of fine French cuisine.

They offer classic and Parisien menus cooked to perfection. Naturally this is complemented by a brilliant wine list including beautifully chosen house wine enjoyed by the connoisseur family themselves.
